Break on through to the other side!
I am an inmate at Lithgow C.C. serving a sentence for a number of aggravated offences that I am not proud of. I was sentenced to 18 years with 12 years non-parole. I am waiting on a severity appeal, which the great team of solicitors and barristers at Archbold Legal have done a great job and found four grounds of a sentence reduction. If all goes well, I will be out on parole a lot sooner than I first thought. At the time of these offences, I was addicted to ice and alcohol and I was also taking prescription medication for depression, which was a very bad cocktail when you are depressed. This is and has been very disappointing for myself and my family and friends. So I hope I can prove to them and the community that I am now medicated for my depression and a lot older and wiser now.
I was born on the 20th of Feburary 1973 in Blacktown Hospital to Ralph and Barbara Hurst. Two years later, my only sibling Julie was born. I grew up in Blacktown. I attended Blacktown South Public School and then completed my Year 10 School Certificate at Mitchell High. In 1989, I started as a 1st year apprentice carpenter for A.W. Edwards and also did roof tiliing in 1990. In December 190, my first daughter Jessica was born and in 1995 my second daughter Emma was born. I was working for P+O until 1997 when I first went to gaol for driving whilst disqualified and breech of weekend detention, which I was doing 6 months for high range drink driving. I finished that stentence and started working for Baiada Poultry and then Linfox.
I started to suffer depression again in late 2005 and could no longer work. I took time off to try and get well but my mates tried to fix my depression by taking me out and getting me drunk and on the drugs, which caused my depression to become much worse. One night, we were at the pub and a fight broke out that I was involved in and ended up back in gaol from 2006-2007. After getting released, I was only out for eight weeks and I reoffended and breached parole and was sentenced to 3 years with 2 year non-parole. Now my relationship with my children’s mother was over after 16 years. She had had enough. So not only was I doing a minimum of 2 years, I had lost my partner also. I got out of gaol in 2009 at Xmas and had a job with Southern Cross Produce but I got back on the drugs and alcohol and treated my family and friends badly and ended up back in gaol on very serious charges which I am currently serving. The most important things to me in life are my family which have always been there for me and I have let them all down.
A little more about myself. Normally, when I’m out of gaol, I am working as a truck driver which I enjoy. And I love to listen to music from the 70’s. Mainly my favourite band is The Doors. I also like Jimmy Hendrix, Pink Floyd, ACDC, Creedence, Frank Zapper, Eagles, and I don’t mind Jimmy Barnes and Midnight Oil. And for the new bands, I like John Butler, Pete Murray, and some blues music. So I also like to go camping, fishing and I love to snorkel at protected marine areas. I love lazy days at the river with beer and BBQ, good friends and family, and the pet dogs. I also like to go 4WD into the bush towing the MotoX bikes for a big day trial bike riding.
I am now doing meditation classes every second wednesday with a Buddhist at Lithgow C.C and I am learning from Master Chin Kung the awakening of Loving Kindness.
The four imeasurables are:
– May all beings have happiness and the cause of happiness!
– May they be free of suffering and the cause of suffering!
– May they never be apart from the sacred happiness which is free of suffering!
– May they dwell in the great equanimity, impartial, free of attachment and aversion.
If you would like to get to know me better please leave me an email address, web page or postal address as I would like more pen-pals and new friends.
