How to Get ThereCar:
From Sydney to Newcastle – Take the Gosford/Kariong Exit off the M1

Turn left onto Kangoo Road (at Worthington BMW)

Turn Right onto Frank Road (at Riding for the Disabled)

Follow this road until you arrive at the centre on your left

Public Transport:
From Sydney, take the Central Coast Network train to Gosford train station.

Take the 32, 33 or 34 bus routes from the station to Pacific Highway after Curringa Rd

Health Care ServicesNurse Unit Manager: Five days per week

Clinical Nurse: Seven days per week

Mental Health Nurse: Five days per week

Education and Skill DevelopmentThe Girrakool School operates five days per week during the school term and delivers a comprehensive school program to young people in custody, incorporating traditional and extracurricular programs. In conjunction with TAFE, the school also offers a number of VET programs such as in horticulture, laundry, life skills multimedia programs, fitness, etc.

Availability of Activities
Contact with Outside WorldVisits from family, friends and supporters are encouraged, a young person can have up to five visitors at a time. Three to four Justice Officers monitor each visit for safety reasons. Visits are permitted for 45 minutes during the following times:
– Wednesday – 2:30pm to 5:30pm
– Saturday and Sunday – 10am to 12pm, 2:45pm to 5:15pm

A special visit time, outside of the given times, may be arranged by contacting the centre caseworker or the Unit Manager on (02) 4340 3800. Those wishing to have more than five people at one time for a visit can contact the Duty Manager on (02) 4340 3800.


Audio Visual Links (AVL) Visits:
Those unable to attend the centre to visit in person may arrange to speak to the young person via an Audio-Visual Link (AVL).

The AVL suites in the Centre are primarily used for legal visits.
