Mannus Correctional Centre provides a bus service from the Tumbarumba Newsagency at 9am on weekends. Visitors are advised to be at the Tumbarumba Newsagency by 08:45.

Private Transport

From Sydney take the Hume Highway until the turn off to Tumut. Travel to Tumut, Batlow, then Tumbarumba. Mannus Correctional Centre is 10km from Tumbarumba, on the Jingellie Road (also known as Linden Roth Drive).

From Melbourne take the Hume Highway to Holbrook. Approximately 20km past Holbrook, turn right into Little Billabong Road then right into Wagga Road. Travel for approximately 40km to Tumbarumba.

Education & Skill DevelopmentInmates are employed in afforestation work, livestock and agricultural activities, viticulture, timber docking, kitchen/laundry, horticulture, apple orchard, building maintenance, forklift, tractor operations and ground maintenance.

Inmates also work in service areas such as general maintenance, cleaning, gardening, and the laundry.

The Adult Education and Vocational Training Institute (AEVTI) provides literacy, numeracy and communications courses in all centres. Many centres also offer vocational courses such as Information Technology, Horticulture, Construction, Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft.

AEVTI contracts TAFE NSW and other providers to deliver courses in a range of vocational areas such as Hospitality, Business Skills, Building, Cleaning, Transport, Aboriginal Studies, Horticulture and various WorkCover licenses.

AEVTI also co-ordinates traineeships and apprenticeships and offers support for distance education.

Each centre has a library giving inmates access to a range of fiction, non-fiction and reference books. Inmates can also login to a secure internal network called the Inmate Legal Portal which gives them access to material of a legal nature.

Legal Visits

Legal practitioners may visit seven days between 9:00am - 3:00pm. Notification of intention to visit should be made by telephoning the Centre on (02) 6941 0333 twenty-four hours in advance.
